Personal History

Hi, I'm Alton O. Moore III. I was born in 1963, in South Texas. I'm into computers, music, chess, animals, tools, airplanes, libertarian ideals, religion, and various other things.

I can usually be found driving my little blue car -- notable for its good mileage, high mileage, and homeliness -- or one of my 1100cc motorcycles. At least lately the high price of gas has made both of these modes of transportation more socially acceptable, hah. However, if I were a millionaire, I'd still be driving much the same things, as I am not particularly into appearances. I value reliability and maintainability.

Speaking of values, I am also into openness and transparency. These attributes facilitate accountability, which in turn facilitates improvement. Both people and organizations (groups of people) can probably benefit from these values. It does my heart glad to see the leadership of the State of Texas pursue these same ideals.

By the way of history, I went to Benjamin Franklin High School in New Orleans, Louisiana right around 1979 and then came back to Texas and graduated from Pharr, San Juan, Alamo (PSJA) High School in 1981. At various times during and after that, I attended Pan American University (now known as U.T. Pan American) and eventually graduated from there with a degree in Computer Science in 1992.

I can often be found real-time on my IRC server (at www.alton-moore.net, port 6667) on a channel named #vcats. I'd say that 8pm-11pm US Central time is the most likely time to catch me on IRC, although I can often be found there during working hours. Please see my "Contact Us" link on the left.
